Severodonetsk remains the hottest point: the enemy does not spare either equipment or people

Severodonetsk is the hottest point along the entire front line. This was announced by the speaker of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Oleksandr Motuzyanyk, Interfax-Ukraine reports.

– As of today, the city of Severodonetsk is the hottest point along the entire front line. Because the enemy spares no effort, no equipment, no people – he abandons more and more new units, has significantly increased the number of his personnel there and is trying to completely take Severodonetsk under his control, in recent weeks there have already been active hostilities on the streets of this city , – Motuzyanyk said at a briefing at the Ukraine media center.

He stressed that the situation is very dynamic, and certain quarters of the city can change hands.

– The city is holding out, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are successfully counterattacking in certain areas, when we see that there are positive circumstances to carry out a counterattack, – said Motuzyanyk.

According to him, the enemy is destroying the city with artillery and inflicting air strikes .

– It is absolutely clear that the leadership of Russia demands such victories from the Russian military, because they are trying in any way, despite the losses, to take control of Severodonetsk, in the future they will try to encircle Lisichansk, they will try to cut off the Bakhmut-Lysichansk logistical route, – the speaker said Motuzyanyk.

Volunteer from Severodonetsk Arif Bagirov said in a comment to Focus on Wednesday that the Ukrainian army controls the territory of the Azot enterprise. Hundreds of people hide in bomb shelters there.

On June 7, the head of the Severodonetsk regional state administration, Roman Vlasenko, said on the air of the All-Ukrainian marathon that evacuation from the city is now almost impossible. About 10 thousand residents remain in Severodonetsk, some of the invaders are deported from the temporarily seized areas of the city.

On June 6, President Volodymyr Zelensky said that if the Armed Forces of Ukraine withdraw from Severodonetsk, then when trying to return it, the losses will be much greater. To attack, you need to have 5 times more equipment and people.

Severodonetsk became the temporary administrative center of the Lugansk region after losing control over Luhansk. The city lies between the rivers Seversky Donets and Borovaya. The fighting has been going on since March 5th.
