Star of the film “Nobody Wanted to Die” Regimantas Adomaitis at the age of 85
Lithuanian and Soviet actor Regimantas Adomaitis, who played the role of Donatas in the movie Nobody didn't want to die”, passed away after several years of battling cancer. He was 85. The death of the artist was reported by the portal LRT (Lithuanian Radio and Television). The actor was diagnosed with a serious illness in 2020. He underwent several operations, underwent a series of chemotherapy courses, and then abandoned the treatment and vouched for his fate. Recently, it was difficult for the actor to move around, the disease gave complications to his legs. Adomaitis complained that he was sad not to work and to sit at home without his favorite profession. The President of Lithuania Gitanas Nauseda expressed his condolences to the family of the actor, noting that Adomaitis told him about a new dream at the meeting – to become a director. – Regimantas Adomaitis was a true symbol of dedication to acting. With his personality and activities, he embraced the entire era of Lithuanian culture. I admired him not only as a film actor, but also as a theater actor who, together with other stars of the Lithuanian stage, created unforgettable roles. In our last conversation, the Maestro hinted that he wanted to try himself as a director. It is a pity that this dream was not destined to come true. I will always remember his amazing, lively, youthful timbre of voice, which cheered up even on the darkest day, – said Nauseda. Regimantas Adomaitis in 1985 was awarded the title of People's Artist of the USSR. For more than 43 years he has been married to a colleague, Lithuanian actress Eugenia Bayorite. A woman who died from a serious illness in 2011. The actor is survived by two sons and five grandchildren.
