Suspect arrested in connection with Witchekan Lake First Nation shooting

Kelly Witchekan, one of the suspects in the Witchekan Lake First Nation shooting, was arrested Monday night in Saskatoon. The second suspect, Melvin Starblanket, 33, has still not been apprehended.

The latter has black hair and brown eyes, is 1.75 meters (5 ft 9 in) and weighs 72.5 kg (160 lbs).

The emergency alert has been lifted by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP).

The authorities nevertheless advise the population to remain vigilant.

RCMP Spiritwood Detachment received a report on Monday of shots fired the same day on Witchekan Lake First Nation territory, 200 km north of Saskatoon.
