Trial of Tamara Lich and Chris Barber scheduled for next fall

Two organizers of the convoy of truckers, Tamara Lich (here in photo) and Chris Barber, are scheduled to be tried in September 2023 (archives).

Two of the main organizers of the truckers' convoy, Tamara Lich and Chris Barber, are set to stand trial in September 2023 on charges related to the massive protest that paralyzed downtown Ottawa earlier this year .

Protesters blocked roads with large trucks and other vehicles for three weeks as the federal capital descended into what many officials described as a state of anarchy.

Tamara Lich and Chris Barber were both arrested the day before where hundreds of police in tactical gear moved in to clear protesters from the roads around Parliament Hill in February.

The two were jointly charged with mischief, ;obstructing police, counseling others to commit mischief and intimidation.

Trial is expected to begin in early September next year and will last approximately 16 days.

Tamara Lich and Chris Barber have been released on bail with strict instructions not to communicate with each other or other ;other convoy organizers, except under the supervision of their lawyers.
