“The intent of the open weekend was to increase the daily number of doses administered, a perfectly achieved goal – says Renato Costa, Coronavirus emergency commissioner in the metropolitan city of Palermo -. We have gone from 400-500 daily inoculations of AstraZeneca to an average of over 970 vaccinations a day of this anti-Covid serum. It means that we have more than doubled them. It was not at all obvious. Trust cannot be rebuilt in a day and that in AstraZeneca, in Sicily as elsewhere, was at its lowest for the The alarm has risen around the very rare cases of thrombosis recorded. The Palermo and Sicilians have understood that we are talking about an absolutely safe vaccine in the target considered, that is, that of 60-79 year olds in good health. the real goal: the more people get vaccinated, with all the vaccines available, the sooner we can hope to dismiss the pandemic ”.

Finally, on Sunday 18, 772 people immunized with AstraZeneca showed up. Currently, the AstraZeneca vaccine is not prohibited for people under 60, but it should preferably be used in people over the age of 79. We hope that the next step is to expand the audience of citizens who can and want to receive it ”.
