The Council appointed a new Ombudsman to replace the dismissed Denisova

A people's deputy (a self-nominee in district No. 60 of the Donetsk region) and the Chairman of the Committee became the new Commissioner for Human Rights of the Verkhovna Rada for Human Rights Dmitry Lubinets. His candidacy was supported by 250 votes. Lubinets became the fourth Ombudsman in the history of independent Ukraine.

The Servant of the People faction gave the most votes – 181, Platform for Life and Peace – 14, Non-factional – 13, Trust – 12, Voice “- 8, “Restoration of Ukraine” – 3, “EU” – 0.

On May 31, the Verkhovna Rada supported the dismissal of Lyudmila Denisova from the post of Commissioner for Human Rights. This was preceded by a scandal. Media women turned to Denisova with a request to be more careful when covering the sexual crimes of Russians – to operate with facts and not disclose details that could help identify the victim. After the appeal, the Ukrayinska Pravda publication directly accused Denisova of writing some of the crimes she spoke about.
