
The court left Medvedchuk in custody for another 2 months
The Lychakivsky District Court of Lviv decided to extend the measure of restraint for People's Deputy Viktor Medvedchuk, suspected of high treason. The policy was kept in custody until 9 August. The corresponding decision was published in the Unified Court Register. – To extend the period of detention without determining the amount of bail for Viktor Medvedchuk, suspected in the criminal proceedings of September 19, 2016, who is suspected of committing criminal offenses under Part 2 of Art. 28, part 1 of article 111, part 2 of article 28, part 1 of article 258 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, for a period of 60 days, that is, until August 9, 2022, the court decision adopted on June 9 says.< /p> Also, the defense of the deputy appealed to the Supreme Court with a request to transfer this petition for consideration to the Pechersky District Court of Kyiv, but the panel of judges of the Cassation Criminal Court refused them. Medvedchuk is suspected of treason and assistance activities of a terrorist organization in connection with involvement in the illegal supply of coal from the occupied territory in late 2014 – early 2015. The MP has been in custody since April. Prior to this, the court chose a preventive measure for him in the form of round-the-clock house arrest, but the politician escaped. Then he was detained by law enforcement officers during an attempt to escape from the country.
