McAllister also recommended the mechanism of sanctions against the Russian Federation and outlined 8 points of recommendations for the participants of the EU summit, which will be held on June 23-24. < /ul> McAlister noted that today the whole world is going through a period of new geopolitical self-determination. The problems resulting from Russia's aggressive war against Ukraine go far beyond the tragic situation that is unfolding in the region, as all of Europe faces a challenge, he added. Joint report of the Foreign Affairs Committee and the Subcommittee on Security and defense of the European Parliament will be put to a vote during the EP plenary session in Strasbourg tomorrow, June 8, in the afternoon. In early April, the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, during a visit to Kyiv, handed over a questionnaire for obtaining the status candidate for EU membership. After filling out the questionnaire, Ukraine will wait for a corresponding recommendation from the European Commission on whether Kyiv meets the necessary criteria. In case of a positive answer, our country will receive the status of a candidate for joining the bloc, after which negotiations on Ukraine's accession to the EU should begin.
