The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine cannot confirm the information voiced by the head of the European Commission that to date, 100,000 Ukrainian soldiers have died in the war against Russia. Bohdan Senik, head of the Public Relations Department of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, stated this in a commentary to the UP.
«We cannot confirm this figure, we emphasize that the losses of the Ukrainian army are official information and fall under the heading disclosure restrictions. At the same time, if what the head of the European Commission has said will allow the aggressor country to be held accountable, we can only support actions that will contribute to legal punishment for those who committed the genocide of the Ukrainian people», — he said.
Senik stressed that everything possible must be done to ensure that all those responsible for the loss of civilian and military citizens of Ukraine are in the dock.
- The head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, said that Ukraine had lost 100 thousand of its soldiers in the war with Russia.
- Subsequently, the mention of losses was removed from von der Leyen's public address, and Dana Spinant, director of political communications for the European Commission, said that the data on the losses of Ukraine during the war, voiced by the head of the EC, include the wounded and the dead.
