The President of Kazakhstan called the “LPR” and “DPR” quasi-states

The President of Kazakhstan called the

The authorities of Kazakhstan, most likely, the independence of the so-called “Donetsk and Luhansk people's republics” do not recognize. This was stated by President Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev at the plenary session of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, Fontanka writes.

– Modern international law is the UN charter. But two UN principles came into conflict – the integrity of the state and the right of the nation to self-determination. These principles contradict each other, there are different interpretations, Tokayev said.

As the leader of Kazakhstan noted, if the right of nations to self-determination is realized, then more than 500 states will appear on earth and there will be chaos. According to him, because of these considerations, their country may not recognize the independence of the so-called “DLNR”.

– We do not recognize either Taiwan, or Kosovo, or South Ossetia, or Abkhazia. Apparently, this principle will be applied to quasi-state associations, which, in our opinion, are Lugansk and Donetsk, he stressed.

We are talking about Ukrainian territories – Luhansk and Donetsk regions, which are under temporary occupation. On February 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree by which Russia recognized the so-called “Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics” as independent states. The parties also signed agreements on friendship and cooperation. On February 24, Russian troops launched an invasion of Ukraine.
