The UN General Assembly voted «FOR» draft resolution on Crimea
The UN General Assembly voted in favor of a resolution in support of the territorial integrity of Ukraine. 100 votes for, 11 against. Against: Armenia, Belarus, Bolivia, Cuba, North Korea, Nicaragua, Russia, Sudan, Syria, Venezuela and Zimbabwe. Russia is in great company.
The meaning of the resolution, UN diplomats point out, is to further isolate Moscow in a situation where the US and Europe warn of the possibility of imposing tough economic sanctions against Russia.
Earlier, the Russian delegation vetoed to the UN Security Council resolution declaring the plebiscite in Crimea «null and void». The voting took place at an extraordinary meeting of the Security Council the day before the referendum on March 16.
The spokesman for the Ukrainian mission to the UN said that the new draft resolution of the General Assembly is more neutral in comparison with the unaccepted text of the Security Council.
