Two homicides in one night in Montreal

The man discovered on the boulevard Jules-Poitras died on the spot.

The Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) is investigating two separate homicides that occurred overnight from Tuesday to Wednesday on its territory . The number of murders committed this year in the metropolis now stands at 17.

The police received a first call about gunshots around 9:45 p.m. on boulevard Jules- Poitras, in Saint-Laurent. Once there, they discovered a man who had been shot in the upper body. His death was pronounced on the spot.

Emergency services received a similar call about an hour later, this time for shots fired on Meilleur Street in the neighboring borough of Ahuntsic- Cartierville. Once again, SPVM officers discover a man shot in the upper body who died of his injuries.

Investigators are trying to shed light on the causes of these homicides . For the moment, the SPVM does not establish any link between the two events, although they occurred within a short period of time and the crime scenes are approximately 2.5 kilometers apart. .

No one has been arrested at this time.
