Two seriously injured in a collision between a car and a motorcycle in Oka

Two people are fighting for their lives in following a face-to-face between a motorcycle and a car occurred Friday afternoon, in Oka, in the Laurentians.

The accident took place around 2:45 p.m. on route 344, also called chemin d'Oka. According to information from the Sûreté du Québec (SQ), a motorcyclist traveling westbound missed his curve and found himself in the opposite direction.

At the same time a vehicle was traveling eastbound. The two machines collided in a face-to-face. The 63-year-old motorcycle driver and the 50-year-old passenger were taken to hospital in critical condition.

In the vehicle, the driver did not suffer any apparent injury and his passenger was transported to the hospital center by prevention, indicates the sergeant of the SQ, Catherine Bernard.

A specialist collision investigator attended the scene to clarify the circumstances of the accident.

At the start of the evening, Route 344 was still closed in both directions between Chemin des Ostryers and Chemin des Collines. A detour has been erected from Highway 640 on chemin des Collines.
