The European Commission, along with the adoption of the recommendation to grant Ukraine the status of a candidate member of the EU, transferred to Ukrainian authorities action plan. It should be completed to start Ukraine's negotiations on EU accession. This was announced by the head of the Office of the President Andriy Yermak.
– Our task is to do everything as quickly as possible. We are working. Ukraine will be in the EU,” Yermak wrote.
Action Plan for Ukraine:
Adoption and implementation of legislation on the procedure for selecting judges of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine, including the process of preliminary selection based on an assessment of their virtue and professional skills, in accordance with the recommendations of the Venice Commission;
Completion of the verification of the virtues of candidates for members of the High Council of Justice and selection of candidates for the High Qualifications Commission of Judges of Ukraine;
Further strengthening of the fight against corruption, including at the high level. Completion of the selection and appointment of a new director of NABU and a SAPO prosecutor
Ensuring that anti-money laundering legislation complies with Financial Action Task Force (FATF) standards;
Adopting a comprehensive strategic plan to reform the entire law enforcement sector as parts of Ukraine's security environment;
An “anti-oligarchic” law should come into force;
Media legislation should be brought into line with European audiovisual legislation;
The reform currently under preparation should be completed legislative framework for national minorities in accordance with the recommendations of the Venice Commission and develop mechanisms for its implementation.
At the summit on June 23-24, the leaders of European countries will finally decide what status to grant Ukraine. During a visit to Kyiv, the presidents of France, Rumini, the Prime Minister of Italy and the Chancellor of Germany said that their countries would recommend granting this status to Ukraine.
