Ukraine started exporting electricity to the EU

From today, Ukraine can export electricity to the EU market. This was announced on the afternoon of June 30 by the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen.

– We are very pleased to announce that from today Ukraine can export electricity to the EU market. This will be an additional source of electricity for the EU. And much-needed revenue for Ukraine. So we both win,” she wrote on her Twitter account.

Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmygal wrote on Facebook that the long-awaited export of Ukrainian electricity to Europe began just three months after receiving an energy visa-free regime.

The head of government hopes that after Ukraine’s victory in the war, the export of Ukrainian electricity to Europe will significantly increase investment in the industry and modernize it to the best European standards.

– Energy will become one of the drivers for the renewal of our economy, as it has already become the driver of our integration into the EU, – the Prime Minister of Ukraine expressed confidence.

The energy visa-free regime with the EU was launched in March. On March 16, Ukraine officially joined the unified energy system of continental Europe ENTSO-E.
