Ukraine won Eurovision 2022
The winner of Eurovision 2022 was the Ukrainian group Kalush Orchestra with a song about mother “Stefania”. According to the voting results, the team received the most points – 631 (192 from the jury and 439 from the audience). In second place is the UK (466), and in third – Spain (459 points). After the finals of the National Selection, the group was also in the lead in betting rates with a 62% chance of winning. This is the third victory in the contest for the country during its participation in Eurovision. In 2004, the contest was won by Ruslana with the song “Wild Dances”, and in 2016 by Jamala with the track “1944”. In total, 25 participating countries performed in the final. Representatives from Ukraine, the Kalush Orchestra group, took the stage at number 12. After the performance, the team called in English to help Ukraine, save Mariupol and Azovstal. It is still unknown whether Eurovision will take place in 2023 in Ukraine. Kalush Orchestra agreed to participate in the contest a week after the disqualification of the winner of the National Selection Alina Pash – the organizers asked the State Border Service for information about the artist's visit to Crimea. The certificate provided by the singer turned out to be “fake”. The winner of the Eurovision Song Contest in 2021 was the rock band Maneskin from Italy.
