US intelligence: Putin plans to wage war against Ukraine for years

Russian dictator Vladimir Putin is preparing for a long-term war against Ukraine. Director of National Intelligence Avril Haynes said this, CNN reports.

«We predict that this year the Russian military will not recover enough to make significant territorial gains, but Putin, rather of everything, counts that time is working in his favor, and the continuation of the war, including with possible pauses in hostilities, may be his best way to finally secure Russia's strategic interests in Ukraine, even if it takes years», & #8212; she said.

At the same time, the director of intelligence admitted that Russia would not be able to maintain even the modest level of offensive operations in Ukraine that it currently has without additional mandatory mobilization and third-party sources of ammunition supply.< /p>

There are also concerns that Ukraine's potential spring offensive could be hampered by a reduction in manpower and equipment due to the need to defend against current Russian attacks.
