Vehicle kills 2, injures 10 at wedding reception in West Vancouver

< p class="e-p">Two people died and ten were injured when a vehicle drove through the garden of a residence during a wedding reception in West Vancouver.

City Police spokeswoman Nicole Braithwaite said a woman in her 60s was driving a vehicle traveling on a shared driveway on Saturday shortly after 6:00 p.m. (PDT) when it sped forward and struck several people attending a wedding.

Constable Braithwaite did not say how many people were in the garden of the house on the corner of Keith Road and Keith Square.

Eleven ambulances and a helicopter were dispatched to the scene, according to British Columbia Emergency Health Services.

Ten people were hospitalized. Five are in stable condition, three are in serious condition and two are in critical condition, say emergency services.

According to officer Nicole Braithwaite, the driver is cooperating with the police: I think this is a tragic incident. Our hearts go out to the victims and witnesses present at the wedding.

No charges have been laid against the motorist at this time.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police Lower Mainland Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Services has launched an investigation to understand the circumstances of the incident.
