Western analysts named three scenarios for the course of the Russian war against Ukraine

Western analysts and officials consider three main scenarios for the development of events in the war launched by the Russian Federation in Ukraine to be probable. According to CNN, the first of the possible scenarios is that Russia will be able to gradually seize more and more new territories in the Lugansk and Donetsk regions.

According to the secondscenario, neither side will be able to advance, and the war will drag on in the positional phase for months or even years. This will result in big losses for both sides and will have consequences for the global economy.

Thirdthe least likely scenario, according to analysts, is that Russia will adjust its goals, claim that it has achieved what it set out to achieve, and try to pave the way for the end of hostilities. In this case, analysts believe, Putin may begin to use the occupied territory as a springboard for a further offensive deep into Ukraine.

In the West, they say that Russia in the war for Donbass is in more favorable conditions due to the quantitative advantage of its forces. At the same time, they believe that the Russian Federation could already lose up to a third of its ground forces (it is not specified whether this is the Severodonetsk direction or wider). It will not be easy for Russia to achieve serious success without full mobilization, and Putin considers this a dangerous step for himself, foreign analysts say.

– I think the moment will soon come when either one or the other side will be successful. Either the Russian Federation will reach Slavyansk and Kramatorsk, or the Ukrainians will stop them there. And if the Ukrainians are able to defend there with such a balance of power, this is important,” a high-ranking NATO interlocutor comments.

The article was published on the eve of the meeting in Brussels – a meeting in the Rammstein format is to be held there on June 15. According to NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, the meeting will raise the issue that Ukrainian troops need more heavy weapons.
