Western generals believe that the Armed Forces of Ukraine will be able to keep Bakhmut
The city of Bakhmut in Donetsk area has more symbolic meaning than operational. This was stated during a visit to Jordan by US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, CNN reports.
«The fall of Bakhmut will not necessarily mean that the Russians have changed the course of this struggle» 8212; Austin said.
The head of the Pentagon added that the Russians continue to deploy many poorly trained and poorly equipped troops to the front «and these troops meet their death very quickly».
In turn, Major General of the Armed Forces of Austria Bruno Hofbauer believes that Bahmut will not fall in the near future. In his opinion, Ukraine will be able to hold Bakhmut for the next few days and weeks.
«If Bakhmut falls, I assume that, as in the past few months, we will probably we will not have Russian troops in the depths, which have sufficient training, equipment and forces in order to carry out a full-scale offensive here»,— the general said.
- The Armed Forces of Ukraine stated that it was possible to deliver ammunition and take out the wounded to Bakhmut.
