Ukrainian journalist, editor-in-chief of Censor.NET Yuri Butusov showed an interview with a Russian who identified himself as Yevgeny Nuzhin, a prisoner from the Ryazan penal colony No. 3. He went to Ukraine as part of the Wagner PMC. Butusov published the video on his YouTube channel.
The source of the Important Stories publication from IK-3, who served his sentence with Nuzhin, confirmed that the recording was “Zhenya from their colony.”
According to the mercenary, in July «Putin»s cook» Evgeny Prigogine. All the prisoners were driven to the parade ground, he invited them to go to war.
“He promised everyone a pardon. Salary che something there 100 thousand. If you are killed, five million, or something, (will be paid) to the family. (He said that) the homeland is in danger, and so on and so forth,” Nuzhin retold Prigozhin’s words.
92 people decided to go to Ukraine, including himself. In August, Prigozhin flew to the colony again, and then Nuzhin learned that the prisoners would join the Wagner PMC. They were taken away at the end of August and taken by helicopters to the Luhansk region – to the “training center”, where they spent a week, until September 2. They were given uniforms and machine guns – while during the arrival of Prigozhin, who once visited the “training school”, the weapons were taken away.
From the prisoners formed an assault detachment. When asked how the task of such detachments was explained to them, Nuzhin replied: “I don’t even know how to explain. As I understood for myself, (prisoners performed the task) of cannon fodder. What you don’t do, you don’t do something – they reset it to zero. They shoot. That's what they call zeroing.”
“Not far (from our school) there was another one. We were brought from IK-3, and there from IK-5, also from Ryazan, about 60 people. One of them was zeroed out before them: he had a snack with the instructor, just verbal diarrhea, and he was nullified. And they also zeroed out a man from IK-5 (when we met at the position, they told). For no reason, one might say, for verbal diarrhea, they shot him and buried him somewhere,” Nuzhin claims.
On September 2, he and 17 other prisoners were brought to “some private sector” and instructed to look for the dead and wounded from the Russian side. During the day, when there were shelling, they sat in shelters, and at night they carried out the task.
On September 4, the mercenary surrendered.
He claims that he would like to fight on the side of the Ukrainians: “ Because not Ukraine attacked Russia. And Putin attacked Ukraine. And my relatives live here. The uncle is in the Ivano-Frankivsk region, and the sister is in Lvov.”
