President Volodymyr Zelensky said that before the start of a full-scale Russian invasion on February 24, no one provided official Kyiv with any specific intelligence about the impending attack. He stated this to the Financial Times.
«No one showed us specific materials that would say that they would be in one direction or another», — Zelensky said.
According to the head of state, he repeatedly tried to phone Vladimir Putin on the eve of the invasion to talk and note that this would be «a big mistake, a big tragedy». However, Putin did not answer such calls.
Speaking about the situation with the Russian leadership, Zelensky noted that «we are fighting crazy people». At the same time, he once again stressed that Ukraine must liberate all its territories. If this does not happen, the war will repeat itself.
The Ukrainian leader added that the success of the counteroffensive depends on the amount of modern weapons that partners are ready to provide to Ukraine, and, above all, we are talking about the United States.
